How Many YA Series?
We all know just how many YA series there are kicking around, just how many worlds we are able to immerse ourselves into! So have you have totalled up the amount of series you’re currently working through? We have – and we’re astonished by the number that we’re invested in (and the number that we still need to get to!)

36 YA series! And that doesn’t include our adult series that we’re reading, which would add about the same number of series again!
What we want to know from you are:
– Which series are you reading? How many?
– Which of the above series should we make finishing a priority?
– Do you prefer series, trilogies, standalones?
– Which series should we be starting? (Morganville Vampires, Vampire Academy, etc)

Comments
1) I’m reading The Bloodlines Series (spinoff from Vampire Acamedy) at the moment.
2) Hunger Games & Mortal Instruments
3) I don’t mind what type as long as its great writing with characters that I’m invested in.
4) Sweet Trilogy by Wendy Higgins, Vampire Academy and Across the Universe trilogy. Glow is good too.
The Hunger Games, The Mortal Instruments and Wintercraft are series I am up to date with. Loved the first two books of The 13 Treasures too.
I love to read trilogies back to back. More than that is normally a waste. Three should be max for a series.
I prefer series and trilogies, but I will read stand-alones, too.
I just finished Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver, the second book after Delirium and loved it. I also enjoyed Susan Beth Pfeffer’s Life As We Knew It series about the end of the world after the moon’s orbit changes, affecting the Earth. Of course, I’ve read all of the Hunger Games books, and I enjoyed the first of those books the best.
Great blog topic!
I’ve read ‘Department 19′ but haven’t got around to the second one yet – I intend to do that soon! I’ve also read the second two of the Numbers series (I read the third one, not realising it was the third, then the second) but my library hasn’t got the first one.
Talking of things my library hasn’t got, I looked for Divergent but it doesn’t exist on their system, so that’s annoying. I’ve heard it’s good.
Personally, I’m waiting for the last Artemis Fowl book, which is coming out in July! :D I’ve been reading that series for so long, and it’ll be so sad when it ends.

I’ve never actually thought about this before…
I can think of about ten off the top of my head, such as Chronicles of Nick, Parasol Protectorate, Dark Hunters, Anita Blake, er…Leviathan, Unwind, er….I might do a post on this.
I like standalones and duos best. Standalones because they have to make an impact to get you to like it, and duos because then you don’t have to wait forever for them to all come out. Longer series are nice, but if you discover them late, ie when there’s over ten books out, I find it a little discouraging to start.
These often get described as children’s books, but Michelle Paver’s “Chronicles of Ancient Darkness” are wonderful. There are six in the series, and they tell a perfectly coherent, well-thought-out, and beautifully written story – one that’s often rather gory and grim, but that offers some hope. She’s just started another; the first book is “Gods and Warriors”. Again, nothing to keep it from ten-year-olds, but older kids and adults who like action, adventure, and fine writing should love it.
