Kim & Bryony’s Forbidden Planet Party
With a full room, excited authors, and a very happy editor, we were sure of a good evening. What we got was even better: an enthusiastic crowd, energetic readings from Kim and Control and Bryony and The Weight of Souls, and moving moments such as Bryony’s sister-in-law finding out that the book is dedicated to her! Family and friends gathered to support their loved ones, as well as bloggers, fellow authors, and agents alike. Thank you to everyone who came along – especially people like Leah from Uncorked Thoughts who came from Wales for the evening! – we really appreciate your support.
The evening was off to a busy start for our two authors as they were put to work by the lovely John at Forbidden Planet! They signed copies of their books, whilst getting very excited about the evening’s festivities…and cake!
I nabbed Kim for a special photo, celebrating Control as the second in her Shifters series. Here she is with Control and Shift – don’t they look great together?
And here’s the cakes we were all so excited about!
Our Editor Supreme, Amanda Rutter, kicked off the evening by thanking Forbidden Planet and everyone for attending the launch, and she spoke about why she loved Bryony and Kim’s books so much. It was great to hear Amanda speak about why, as an editor, she felt so strongly about these books to publish them. Here at Strange Chemistry we love not only great writing, but great story-telling and these two wonderful authors are story-tellers of the highest order.
And then it was over to Kim to start the readings! She had thrown the question out to Twitter on whether she should read action or angst, and whilst one followers suggested “angstion”, it was a unanimous decision for action. Thus, Kim introduced the audience to Scott, and explained why she ended up writing him into a cage fighting scene “Because, why not?” Love it!
Kim then handed over to Bryony who brought the world of The Weight of Souls to life; her reading full of drama and tension, the Darkness was part of the Forbidden Planet room for a few scary minutes! Bryony ended her reading, with an order to the room to “Eat Cake” – we didn’t have to be told twice!
The signing followed, and a steady queue was present for the hour, leading to happy publishers, authors, and booksellers! If you want to hear Kim and Bryony reading, well here’s a handy YouTube link, or two: Kim Curran and Bryony Pearce.
Here’s a few more photos from the evening, and again, thanks to all that came along!
